The Science and Community Environmental Knowledge (SCEK) Fund is an industry-sponsored fund administered on their behalf. Management of the Fund is through a Steering Committee. CAPP, SEPAC and the Commission each appoint one member to the Steering Committee, additions to the Committee are approved by the appointed members. SCEK supports practical studies that develop credible and relevant information related to the management of environmental and social impacts of oil and gas exploration and development in British Columbia. The Fund communicates findings from SCEK projects as well as the current state of knowledge on key issues to the oil and gas industry and regulators, First Nations, land and resource users, communities, and the public.

Research proposals are solicited through an annual Call for Proposals that focuses on priorities set by the SCEK Fund Steering Committee.
